 Medical Assisting Program 

Kaplan College's medical assisting courses offer you the opportunity to become a competent, professional, multi-skilled practitioner for today's interactive health care team. Upon graduation, you could provide flexibility to the medical staff by exhibiting a broad range of administrative, laboratory, and clinical skills.

 Standards of Competence 

If you wish to become certified, this program can assist you in preparing for the following exams:

  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT)
  • National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT)
  • National Certified Insurance & Coding Specialist (NCICS)

 

The RMA and RPT are sponsored by American Medical Technologists (AMT), and the NCMA, NCPT, and NCICS are sponsored by the National Center for Competency Testing.

 Career Opportunities 

As a graduate of the program, you may qualify to perform duties under the direction of a physician in private or group practices, clinics, ambulatory care settings, blood banks, nursing homes, and other medical facilities.

A student's eligibility may depend on his or her work experience, completion of high school (or its equivalent), not having a criminal record, meeting other licensure or certification requirements, or the program or College itself having appropriate accreditation or licensure. Externship sites may themselves require a criminal background check or medical examination.
